By LM-Garowe: 04 January, 2024-The Union of Puntland’s Presidential Candidates welcomed the recent election results, expressing their support for the democratic process and congratulating the newly elected officials. In statements, they emphasized the importance of peaceful and transparent elections as a cornerstone of a functioning democracy.
The union specifically commended the voters for their active participation and expressed gratitude for their trust in the electoral process. They highlighted the significance of a strong need for change in Puntland, pledging to hold the newly elected officials accountable and work constructively for the betterment of the country.
“We welcome together the 6th Parliament of the Puntland Government and the election of the Puntland House of Representatives”. Asad Osman Abdullahi said.
“We expect them to fulfill their duties by the laws of the country. We call on them to support a real change in Puntland and support the interests of Puntland” he added in a statement posted on his Facebook page. We also announced tonight the coalition of the presidential candidates.
The leaders also stressed the need for unity and collaboration among all political actors, emphasizing that Puntland’s progress and development should be prioritized above partisan interests. They called for inclusive governance and a commitment to addressing the pressing challenges and aspirations of the people.
