By LM- Mogadishu, 11 January 2024- Thousands of concerned citizens took high officials of the federal government to the streets today in a large-scale demonstration against the greed of Ethiopia over Somalia’s sea demanding immediate action. The protest, organized by the federal government and concerned citizens, aims to raise awareness about the grave threats facing our seas and advocate for stronger measures to ensure their protection.
The demonstration drew participants from all walks of life, including activists, women, students, and community members, all united by a shared concern for our oceans over the ‘null and avoid’ MoU signed in Addis-Ababa on 1st January 2024. With colorful banners, chants, and a powerful display of solidarity, the protestors conveyed a clear message:
The time for action is now.
