Somalia’s Minister of Health meets with Indian Ambassador to Somalia

LM-Mogadishu: The Minister of Health of the federal government of Somalia Dr. Ali Haji held a productive meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Somalia, Namgyal C. Khampa to discuss healthcare cooperation and explore avenues for collaboration between the two nations. The meeting, held in Mogadishu, aimed to strengthen bilateral ties in the field of healthcare and exchange expertise to promote the well-being of the people.

During the meeting, Minister Dr. Ali expressed appreciation for India’s continued support and cooperation in the healthcare sector. The Minister acknowledged India’s expertise in various areas of healthcare, including medical research, pharmaceuticals, technology, and capacity building. He highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences to enhance healthcare services, capacity building of medical workers, and address common health challenges faced by both countries.

Ambassador Namgya C. Khampa emphasized India’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s healthcare system and offered further assistance in areas such as healthcare infrastructure development, medical training, supply of essential medicines, and collaboration in research and development. The Ambassador highlighted the longstanding friendship between India and Somalia and expressed a desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector.

The Minister and the Ambassador discussed potential areas of collaboration, including the exchange of medical professionals, joint research initiatives, and sharing of best practices in healthcare management and disease control. They also explored opportunities for Indian investment in the healthcare sector in Somalia, including the establishment of medical facilities and the provision of medical equipment.
