The Somali Council of Ministers approved a historic agreement

Mogadishu (LM) The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia, today approved a historic agreement between the Government of Somalia and the Government of Turkey, which is about defense and economic cooperation.

The Prime Minister of the Government Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, who presided over an emergency meeting of the Assembly, described the agreement as one of destiny and legacy for the Somali nation – he spoke about the importance of this agreement for the country and the Somali people.

“This agreement is fateful and legacy. It is a decision that will open a new path for Somalia that was not possible before. It is a decision that will rid Somalia of poverty and brotherhood. It is a decision that will make Somalia a true friend. and have it in the world”.

The Prime Minister noted that this agreement will put an end to the fear of terrorism, pirates, illegal fishing, poisoning, abuse, and threats from abroad.

“This agreement builds, trains, and equips our Navy to take over our maritime defense. This agreement will increase the production of our sea and the blue economy”, said Prime Minister Hamsa.

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, thanked the Government and the people of Turkey for their support during the important times that Somalia has gone through and today when the country’s sovereignty has been violated.

A significant development underscores the commitment of both nations to deepening collaboration in defense and military affairs.

The defense cooperation agreement encompasses a wide range of areas, including joint military exercises, information sharing, and defense procurement.
