Mogadishu (LM) The president of the Federal Republic of Somalia Prof. Hassan Sheik Mohamed held a press conference in Mogadishu on Thursday night to address an essential aspect of the nation’s security and the commitment to building strong alliances. President Mohamud has highlighted many issues regarding the fight against Alshabab terrorists, Sea threats from the enemy of Somalia, and the Constitutional Review Process. The president said that they received different nations who sided with Somalia during the diplomatic dispute with Ethiopia and selected one government, Turkey. The president added that the agreement between Somalia and Turkey will last 10 years. He said the cooperation of defense and military service plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our country and promoting stability.

Furthermore, He emphasized the importance of international defense cooperation. In an interconnected world, the challenges they face are increasingly complex and transnational. No single nation can tackle these challenges alone. It is through collaboration and cooperation with our allies and partners that can address emerging threats effectively.

Together with the allies, Mohamud forged strong military alliances and defense partnerships based on shared values, mutual trust, and a common vision for a secure and peaceful world. These alliances bolster the collective defense capabilities, enable information sharing, and promote interoperability among our armed forces.

He also addressed an important milestone in the defense cooperation and military service between our great nations, Somalia and Turkey.

“The partnership we have built with Turkey in the field of defense holds significant promise for our national security and the advancement of our armed forces.” He said.

“Turkey has been a steadfast friend and ally to Somalia, providing invaluable support in various areas, including defense and security. This collaboration is grounded in our shared vision of peace, stability, and prosperity for our respective nations and the wider region.”

Through joint training exercises, capacity-building programs, and the exchange of military expertise, we are enhancing the capabilities of our armed forces. Our partnership with Turkey is enabling us to strengthen our defense institutions, improve operational readiness, and better protect our territorial integrity.

The defense cooperation between our nations extends beyond military training and capacity building. Turkey has been instrumental in supporting the modernization of our defense infrastructure, including the provision of equipment, technology, and logistical support. This support enhances our ability to respond to security challenges effectively and safeguard our national interests.

Furthermore, Cooperation in the field of military service is creating opportunities for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between our armed forces.
