By LM-Dusmareb, 06 January 2024- It is reported that heavy fighting between the Somali National Army backed by Galmudug forces and Local armed residents and AS is going on in the south of the Mudug region of Galmudug State of Somalia.
Reports from the Mudug region in that today a fierce battle is going on in the south of the region, after AS launched an attack on government forces, Galmudug, and residents.
The battle took place in the area of Jeix-Jeixah under the city of Aad in the south of the region, where Al-Shabaab is strong.
This attack was carried out jointly by the especially well-trained forces of Gorgor, the Galmudug forces, and the Ma’awiisleys (local armed residents) operating in the area.
Also, the war that took place early in the morning was carried out by armed forces, and until noon, there were bombings carried out by warplanes.
It is not clear the official casualties caused by the war, as it is still ongoing and the situation is very tense. Somalia’s military officials have revealed that they have swamped Al-Shabaab’s bases and that the war is still going on in the area of Jeh-Jeha.
Mudug has been undergoing large-scale operations in recent days in collaboration with the Somali National Army, Galmudug, and residents.
The strikes by unmanned drones were carried out according to local sources but the exact casualties were not reported yet.
The Somali government is committed to ending the fight against the terrorists within two months as the president’s National Security Adviser Mr. Hassan Sheik Moalim.
