Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Somalia Holds Productive Meeting with Qatari Counterpart

Doha (LM) The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim, held a productive meeting today with his Qatari counterpart Mr. Ali bin Samikh Al-Marri,  in Doha. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of labor and social affairs, with the aim of improving the lives of citizens in both countries.

During the meeting, Minister Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim and his Qatari counterpart engaged in constructive discussions on a wide range of topics related to labor and social welfare. They explored avenues for collaboration in areas such as employment generation, vocational training, social protection, and labor rights.

Both ministers expressed their commitment to fostering closer ties between Somalia and Qatar in order to enhance the well-being of their respective populations. They highlighted the importance of exchanging knowledge and best practices to address common challenges and promote social and economic development.

Dr. Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim commended Qatar’s efforts in the field of labor and social affairs, acknowledging its advancements in creating inclusive and supportive environments for workers and promoting social welfare programs. He expressed Qatar’s willingness to support Somalia in its endeavors to strengthen labor rights, promote decent work, and enhance social protection mechanisms. The meeting concluded with the ministers agreeing to establish a framework for cooperation between their respective ministries. They discussed the possibility of exchanging delegations, organizing joint training programs, and sharing expertise in the areas of labor market regulation, social security, and labor migration.

Dr. Mohamed Elmi Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for Qatar’s willingness to collaborate and support Somalia’s efforts to enhance labor conditions and social welfare.
