By LM-Dusmareb, 7 January 2024- The command of the armed forces of the country of Somalia has given more details about an operation that lasted for many hours and was carried out in cooperation with international friends in the southern region of Mudug.
The operation, which was a combination of air and ground, was carried out by the cooperating forces near the Jeh-Jeh area where the Al-Shabaab group had dug large defensive holes.
The Somali National Army said that in the operation that took place yesterday, more than 50 of the Al-Shabaab group were killed, and 26 Al-Shabaab, including their leaders, were killed in an airstrike that took place last night.
“In the operation that took place in Mudug, the terrorist group killed more than 50 militiamen, and they were attacked on the ground and on the surface. The command of the Somali Armed Forces, with the help of international friends, killed 26 terrorists in an airstrike last night. One of them was the leader of the group that was killed tonight,” said a news release from the country’s armed forces.
The news from the Command also mentioned the bombing that destroyed a car of the type that was accompanied by leaders and Malaysians of the Al-Shabaab group.
“In the coming days, the operation in Mudug region will be ended, all the terrorists will be removed from the places where they dug the holes they used to hide,” the statement said.
However, in the heavy operations carried out by the government forces and international friends from yesterday to last night in the area of Jeh Jeha, the commander of the 18th battalion of the Eagle army was killed by the leader of the government forces.
