Mogadishu (LM) In a supervision move aimed at advancing women’s rights and human rights in Somalia, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr. Hamza Barre has taken personal oversight of the Ministry of Women and Human Rights. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to empower women, protect human rights, and promote gender equality in the country and to observe the work of the ministry, after the death of (blessed her) Minister Khadija Mohamed Diriye.
During his observation, the Prime Minister outlined his vision for the Ministry of Women and Human Rights. He emphasized the need to create an enabling environment for women, where they can actively participate in all spheres of society and contribute to the nation’s growth. Additionally, he stressed the importance of safeguarding human rights, protecting vulnerable populations, and ensuring justice for all citizens.
Mr. Hamsa pointed out that Somali women play an important role in society and the priority one is the education of our children, adding that they have played a strong role in the various struggles of the country during the colonial period, after the destruction and now that we are in the most difficult struggle. There are remnants of the Khawarij group and the defense of the country.
