Somali Prime Minister Opens Institute of Law and Islamic Studies in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, 4 January 2024- The Prime Minister of the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, who opened the Institute of Law and Islamic Studies, said that this institute is supposed to produce religious scholars who guide the society on the right path as prescribed by the Sharia.

Mr. Hamsa pointed out that the academics working in this institution came in an open competition, which reflects how the DanQaran (National Interest) Government prioritizes transparency and competition for knowledge.

The Prime Minister noted that this center was established for the development of the Islamic religion and for the Somali community to have a full understanding of the various rules of Islamic Sharia.

The Prime Minister praised the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education for the implementation of the Institute of Islamic Law and Studies, ordering that this center is a high quality and complete for all its services.
